2006 Bhiwandi lynching
The 2006 Bhiwandi lynching was the murder of two police constables in Bhiwandi by a Muslim mob.[1] The constables were burned alive after two Muslims were shot by police.[2] Curfew was imposed after the lynching.[3] Some reports said the constables were stabbed to death.[4] The police constables have been identified as R Y Jagtap of the Bhoiwada police station and B R Gangurde of the Narpoli police station.[5][6] The Muslim mob belonging to Raza Academy was violently protesting against the construction of a police station near a mosque.[7]
