2013 attack on Pakistan Embassy in New Delhi
On 7 August 2013, members of the youth wing of the Congress Party attacked the Pakistan embassy in New Delhi, India.[1] The attack was motivated when the news of death of five Indian Army soldiers began to air in the Indian news channels.[2]
Protests flared by the members of the youth wing of Congress Party against the alleged killing of five Indian soldiers by Pakistan Army at the Line of Control (LoC) tried to enter the Pakistan High Commission.[3] The protesters turned violent as they pushed back the police barricades and entered into a scuffle with the policemen. Police resorted to using water cannons to disperse the protestors.[4] Around 175 were detained, but later let off. Similar protests were also organized in other major urban centres of India, including Mumbai and Hyderabad.
