The 2016 ASEAN School Games (ASG), officially known as the 8th ASEAN School Games (Thai: กีฬาโรงเรียนอาเซียน ครั้งที่ 8) was a multi-sport event held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 22 to 29 July 2016 with 123 events in 11 sports featured in the games.
It was the second time Thailand hosted the games and its first since 2009, Thailand is the first nation to host the ASEAN School Games before Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines and Brunei.
The final medal tally was led by host Thailand followed by Indonesia and Vietnam. Several games records were broken during the games.The games were deemed generally successful with the rising standard of school sports competition amongst the Southeast Asian nations.
