In 2013 they were joined by violinist Laura Mallows, in 2014 by drummer Ramon Sherrington, and in 2015 by drummer Jamie Gillett. They have released music on a number of independent labels including Endemik Records, I Had An Accident Records and Silver Rocket Records.
History
A Band of Buriers released their debut self-titled EP in 2011. Their debut full-length album, Filth, was released on 10 July 2012 at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. The release was followed by tours in Austria, Germany and the South of France. The album's eponymous lead single was selected as 'Track of the Day' by Clash magazine,[1] who described the album as "raw, vital… real".[1] The album also received plaudits from The Fly, who described the album as "a solemn and poetic debut".[2] The album-launch video featured actors Matthew Lewis and Lily Loveless in a tempestuous relationship that ends in self-mutilation.[3]
After a sold-out show upstairs at Ronnie Scott's they did a four-month residency at the club for promoter TV Nights. Buriers host the A Band of Buriers present… night at Blacks members club and have presented many famous folk musicians, including Alasdair Roberts and 2012 Mercury Prize nominee Sam Lee.
In November 2012, A Band of Buriers toured with Micah P. Hinson[4] on the sold out UK leg of his European tour as well as performing twice at the Union Chapel, voted London's Number One Music Venue[5] by Time Out.
In August 2013 the band opened Off Festival[6] in Poland with Patrick Wolf. Shortly after they were signed to booking agent Allo Floride.[7] In November 2013 A Band of Buriers were selected by the Vienna Songwriting Association[8] to open the last day of the sold out Blue Bird Festival[8] in Vienna with Edwyn Collins, Rachel Sermanni, Adam Green and Amanda Palmer. The band were described as one of the highlights of the festival by Austrian national radio station FM4.[9]
Under their new, shortened name, Buriers, the band performed again with Micah P. Hinson for nine dates on the UK leg of his 2014 European tour, including their third show at the Union Chapel courtesy of ATP/All Tomorrow's Parties (music festival)[10]
In July 2014, Buriers went to Texas to record with Micah P. Hinson at his home, resulting in their Four Songs EP, produced with Hinson, which was self released in November that same year. Peckham Rye from the EP was track of the day on Folk Radio UK[11]
In February 2016 they released a new EP entitled To Speak of One's Own Pride on Endemik Records.
