Abbas Hashmi is an investment banker most well known for founding Green Card Capital.[1][2][3][4] Hashmi is an industry specialist and supports the EB-5 visa program and the use of transparency and compliance to run the program. He works with investors, foreign nationals, and high net worth individuals and their families with the EB-5 visa program.[5] Hashmi has worked for AIG as regional head for the Middle East region.[6]

Early life and education

Hashmi was born and raised in Saudi Arabia. He went to Pakistan to finish his MBA from the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi and also has a certificate in Islamic Finance.[6]

Career

In 2013, Hashmi founded Green Card Capital in New York City and works with investors, foreign nationals, and high net worth individuals and their families with the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Pilot Program to obtain a US Green Card for immigration to the United States.,[2][3]

Philanthropy

In October 2012, Hashmi partnered with WeDidIt, an online crowdfunding platform that allows non-profits to raise money from their social networks. In 2013, WeDidIt was included in the Wall Street Journal's "Startup of the Year" documentary series.[7]

In September 2013, Hashmi launched a non-profit filmmaking competition called Heroes of Pakistan.[8][9][10] The competition received coverage from local and regional media, and Pakistani college students.[11][12][13][14][15] Heroes of Pakistan attracted the attention of international and local directors, producers and media figures such as Mehreen Jabbar, Bilal Lashari, Shahzad Nawazand and Iram Parveen Bilal.[16][17][18][19][20][21]
