Synopsis

In 1965, a lone holy man sets out across the ocean from India to America carrying nothing but a timeless message and a vision of a world united. In a time of war and disillusionment, he inspires a generation of youth and against all odds, forms an unstoppable spiritual revolution. Acharya is the true story of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the humble pioneer of Bhakti Yoga in the western world.

"Everyone has heard about the Hare Krishna's, but very few have heard the remarkable story of the man who founded it. If someone told you this story, you wouldn't believe it.” (Dr. Thomas J Hopkins, Oxford University)

This documentary feature Acharya, is written and directed by John and Jean Griesser, who captured A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada through film and photography over the 11 years he spent founding the Hare Krishna movement throughout the world.
