Actionuni represents young researchers as well as the associations of non-professorial academic staff of the Swiss universities and Federal Institutes of Technology on the Swiss and the international level. Actionuni’s objectives are to improve the academic career tracks and to coordinate the activities of the Swiss associations of non-professorial academic staff.

History

Actionuni was founded as a "comity" in 2000 in Neuchâtel by a group of PhD candidates coming from the Universities of Neuchâtel, Bern and Fribourg. The primary goal was to improve the working conditions of PhD candidates and academic staff in Swiss universities. In 2001, the first achievement was a petition «Pour une recherche scientifique juste et efficace», to support PhD candidates and young researchers.[1] In 2003, Actionuni was established as a national association representing researchers of Swiss universities at the federal level. In 2008, Actionuni published the report "Zur Lage des akademischen Mittelbaus in der Schweiz". This study was mainly concerned about the working conditions of academic staff in Swiss universities.[2][3]
