The Agra Metro is a proposed rapid transit system in the city of Agra, India.. The feasibility study of the project was completed by RITES in June 2015. Agra Metro Rail is likely to be completed around 2020 (phase 1), if started in 2016. Agra is the 4th largest city in Uttar Pradesh after Kanpur, Lucknow and Ghaziabad. The feasibility study of metro rail in Agra has been prepared to control the traffic woes and congestion which are hampering the growth, development and prosperity of the City.
As of February 2016, DPR is being prepared by RITES and is expected to be submitted to state government soon.[1]
Cost
Cost of construction is estimated at Rs 350 crore per km. The cost will be evaluated based on the June 2015 price index.
