Ahmad Ibrahim Khalaf Al-Qafaje (Arabic: احمد ابراهيم خلف الخفاجي, born February 25, 1992 in Iraq) is an Iraqi footballer who plays for Emirates Club and the Iraqi national team. He plays as a defender for Emirates Club .
Club career
The young defender began his playing career at Al-Sharqat before joining Salah-Al-Deen in 2008. In 2009, he was signed by Arbil FC at the age of 17 along with club mate Karrar Tariq on a one-year contract worth 60m Iraqi dinars. On January 2013, he signed a 6 months loan contract with the Emarati Club side Al-Wasl. Other than his short stint at Al Wasl, Ahmed remained at Erbil for 6 years before leaving the club for Emariti team Ajman. Ahmed had signed for Al Dhafra, another team in the U.A.E for six months, ending on the first of January 2016.Following the Olympic games in Rio , Ahmed announced his return to the Iraqi league with Al Shorta , but a clause that states he is free to leave if he receives a foreign offer was activated.
He signed for Emirates Club on 27 September 2016.
International career
On November 11, 2010 Ahmed made his debut against India. Iraq won that match 2–0. He was brought into the squad at the last minute by coach Wolfgang Sidka replacing the injured Hussein Abdul Wahid. On March 28, 2015, on his 50th cap, Ahmed scored his first goal for his country. Heading from a corner by Yaser Kasim in a friendly match against DR Congo in the UAE.
