Al-Ghaydaq ibn Abdulmuttalib

Al-Ghaydaq ibn Abdulmuttalib was an uncle of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. His original name was Musab; the by-name al-Ghaydaq was a tribute to his generosity.[1][2]:101

He was the son of Abdulmuttalib ibn Hashim and of Mumanna'a bint 'Amr.[2]:99–100 He had a maternal brother, Awf ibn Abd-Awf, by whom he was the uncle of Abdulrahman ibn Awf.[2]:100–101

His nephew Qurra ibn Hajl said of him, "The chief Ghaydaq is considered a leader," and he and all his brothers, "have been the chiefs of the people, that the nose of the enemy should bleed."[2]:101

Al-Ghaydaq was childless.[2]:101

He is not included in Ibn Hisham's list of Abdulmuttalib's children.[1]
