Allen Bernard Hurns (born November 12, 1991) is an American football wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). He was signed by the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He played college football at the University of Miami.
Early years
Hurns attended Miami Carol City Senior High School in Miami, Florida. He played football as a wide receiver and ran track. He finished his junior year with 23 receptions for 450 yards and seven touchdowns. As a senior, he had six catches for 110 yards before suffering a season-ending injury.[1]
In track, he ran a career-best time of 11.69 seconds in the 100 meters at the 2006 Broward County Championships, where he placed 4th.[2] He placed 3rd in the 400 meters at the 2008 Hallandale Invitational, setting a personal-best time of 50.30 seconds.[3] At the 2008 FHSAA 4A Region 4 Meet, he recorded a career-best time of 22.11 seconds in the 200 meters, placing 7th in the prelims.[4]
Regarded as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, he was ranked as one of top 100 receivers in the nation by Scout.com.
College career
Hurns played college football at the University of Miami from 2010 to 2013. During his career he started 26 of 45 games and had 121 receptions for 1,891 yards and 14 touchdowns. As a senior he won the Jack Harding Award as the Hurricanes Most Valuable Player after setting the Hurricanes single-season receiving yards record with 1,162.[5][6]

Jacksonville Jaguars
2014 season
Hurns was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars after going undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft. In his NFL debut on September 7, 2014, against the Philadelphia Eagles, Hurns caught 4 passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns. His first two receptions in the first quarter went for touchdowns, making Hurns only the second NFL receiver ever to record touchdowns on his first two catches, and the first rookie to ever score 2 receiving touchdowns in the first quarter of his first game. 2015 season
On November 29, 2015, Hurns was hospitalized after a head injury in Week 12's matchup against the San Diego Chargers by hitting his head after attempting a diving catch.[11] He was released from the hospital later that day.[12] Hurns did not practice on December 3, 2015, and remained on concussion protocol.[13] On December 4, 2015, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced that Hurns would not play Week 13's game against the Tennessee Titans.[14][15] Hurns finished the 2015 season with 64 receptions, 1,031 yards and 10 touchdowns.[16] As of 2015, Allen Hurns holds the record for most touchdowns in first 2 seasons for an undrafted free agent in NFL history (16), and was the only wide receiver to score a touchdown in seven straight games, all while playing with a sports hernia.[17]
2016 season
On June 2, 2016, Hurns signed a 4-year extension worth $40 million, with $20 million guaranteed.[18]
