Anthony LeJohn Brown (born October 10, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Stanford Cardinal.
High school career
Brown attended Ocean View High School where he averaged 14.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as a junior, while being named league MVP. That year he led the Seahawks to a CIF Southern Section championship and state runner-up finish and was named CIF Southern Section Player of the Year and a member of the first-team all-state. He was the No. 7-ranked small forward, No. 41 player overall and a four-star recruit by Scout.com.[1]
College career
Brown attended Stanford from 2010 to 2015.[2][3] Brown had a medical redshirt in his true junior season of 2012–13 due to a hip injury.[1] In his redshirt junior season of 2013–14, he averaged 12.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game and shot 47.5% from the floor, 45.3% from beyond the arc and 78.5% on free throws. He was named the Pac-12’s Most Improved Player as the Cardinal reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.[4] During his career he averaged 10.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
Brown completed his bachelor's degree in communication in May 2014 and was enrolled in Stanford's Master of Arts program in media studies in his redshirt senior season.[5]
Professional career
Los Angeles Lakers (2015–2016)
On June 25, 2015, Brown was selected with the 34th overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers.[6] On July 9, he signed with the Lakers.[7] He made his debut for the Lakers on October 30, scoring five points off the bench in a loss to the Sacramento Kings.[8] During his rookie season, he had multiple assignments to the Los Angeles D-Fenders, the Lakers' D-League affiliate.[9] On October 24, 2016, he was waived by the Lakers.[10]
Erie BayHawks (2016)
On October 30, 2016, Brown was selected by the Erie BayHawks with the first overall pick in the 2016 NBA Development League Draft.[11]
New Orleans Pelicans (2016–present)
On November 21, 2016, Brown signed with the New Orleans Pelicans.[12]
