Ataur Rahman (born June 18, 1941)[1] is a Bangladeshi stage and television actor.[2] He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2001 by the Government of Bangladesh for his contribution to drama.[1]
Early life and education
Rahman was born in Noakhali on June 18, 1941. He completed his master's in Soil Science from the University of Dhaka in 1965.[1]
Career
Rahman served as the general secretary and later president of Bangladesh Centre of the International Theatre Institute (BCITI).[3][4] He is the founder general secretary of the theater troupe "Nagorik Natya Sampradaya".[1] He is a former chairman of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation.[1][5]
Rahman directed over 30 plays including "Roktokorobi", "Banglar Mati Banglar Jol", "Narigon", "Irsha", "Opekkhoman", and "Waiting for Godot".[1][6]
