Bangladesh Computer Council or BCC,[1] is a statutory and autonomous government body that aids the use and utilization of information technology and formulate related policy and is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh.[2]

History

In 1983 the National Computer Council was formed by the government of Bangladesh. This was later changed to Bangladesh Computer Council in 1990 through Bangladesh Computer Council Ordinance. It provides support and its services to 661 government organizations and agencies.[2] It falls under the Information technology (ICT) division of the Ministry of Science and Technology.[3][4] In 2016 opend a website for teaching computer programming in Bangla language called eshikkha.net.[5] In 2016 it was given a contact by the government of Bangladesh worth over 12 billion taka to connect 2600 union parishads to the internet through optic cable.[6] It operates data recovery centres in Bangladesh.[7] The Bangladesh Computer Council Auditorium is a notable auditorium owned by the council.[8][9]
