Beth Doane (born July 20, 1983) is an American fashion designer, writer and author. She is the founder of the apparel brand Raintees which aids in providing an education to children in more than twenty developing nations and has planted more than 40,000 trees worldwide.

Beth grew up on a small farm in Whitehouse, Ohio. She attended Eastern Michigan University from 2001 to 2004 and graduated magna cum laude with a major in Communication/Theatre Arts and a minor in writing.

Design career

Andira International

At age 22, after living in Spain, Italy and the UK, Beth created Andira International as a fashion import and distribution company. She launched exclusive European brands, such as Demano, across the U.S. market and debuted Demano at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Los Angeles in 2008. Beth closed Andira in 2014 to focus on Raintees.

Raintees

After witnessing human rights violations and the prevalence of child labor and environmental pollution in fashion manufacturing, Beth began to speak out about what she was experiencing and encourage industry leaders to take action.

In 2008, she created the apparel line, Raintees, which features children's artwork. Raintees launched in the Fall 2008 fashion weeks and has been featured in prominent media, including People, Glamour, The Huffington Post and Seventeen.[1] Beth was featured as a "Hero" in the December 2010 edition of Hemispheres magazine for her environmental achievements through the brand and photographed for the book 100 Making a Difference by celebrity photographer John Russo, alongside public figures such as Steven Spielberg, Prince Edward, Michelle Obama and Al Gore.[2][3]

Celebrity fans and contributors to Raintees include actresses Alicia Silverstone,[4] Rosario Dawson,[5] Jenna Dewan,[6] Amanda Peet,[7] Latin pop star Debi Nova,[8][9] supermodels Josie Maran and Kate Dillon Levin,[10][11] professional racecar driver and environmentalist Leilani Munter,[12] green lifestyle expert, journalist and TV host Sara Snow,[13] multi-award winning documentary filmmaker Simon Tatum,[14] and filmmaker and oceanographic explorer Fabien Cousteau.[15]

Today, Raintees works with non-profit partners worldwide, including TK.[16]

Writer/Author

Beth is the author of a children’s book entitled From the Jungle, about environmental awareness, illustrated by acclaimed artist and award-winning graphic designer Mel Lim. The book won an American Graphic Design Award (GDUSA) in 2010.[17]

Beth has been featured in National Geographic, Glamour, In Style and other top tier magazines. She is a writer for numerous publications, including Los Angeles-based magazine Coco Eco,[18] Darling magazine and The Huffington Post.

In 2010, she was asked to write as an ambassador for the L'Oreal Company Kiehl's dedicated global following on her journey through the Amazon for the launch of their new naturally based skin-care product, Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate.[19]

Speaker and Consultant

Beth speaks nationally about her journey from fashion designer to social entrepreneur and humanitarian. She has spoken at the United Nations and on the National Mall in Washington, DC for Earth Day Network's annual event in 2012 alongside celebrities, politicians and scientists about climate change.[20][21]

She has also spoken at Google, TEDx, and at the inaugural Leaders Causing Leaders leadership conference held in Long Beach, California in November, 2010, where she founded a women’s panel on executive leadership.[22] Her story has captivated audiences at numerous universities as well, including the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, the West Coast home of Project Runway.

Beth is also a consultant and partner at the Los Angeles based communications firm Main & Rose, with offices in Dubai and New York.[23]

Awards

In 2011, Beth was nominated “Outstanding Women of the Year Nominee” by Los Angeles magazine,[24] a “Gold Alumni” of Eastern Michigan University and awarded the “Outstanding Young Alumna Award."

In 2009, Beth received the Toledo area 20 Under 40 Leadership Award and was asked to help create and co-founded the charity gala Ferdinand's Ball, hosted by TV personality Maria Menounos to save retired racehorses from slaughter.[25][26]

Through Beth's charity work and event planning, she has helped raise thousands of dollars for animal rescue organizations. She has created events for her local Humane Society in her hometown of Toledo, OH, as well as for the Best Friends Animal Society.

In 2014 Beth was awarded the Global Women Champion award by GC4W.[27]
