Eauze Cathedral

The former Roman Catholic archdiocese of Eauze, in south-west France, was suppressed in 879.[1] The see was moved from Eauze to Auch, the territory becoming part of the diocese of Auch. Eauze was anciently known as Elusa in the Late Roman Empire and early Middle Ages, when for a long period it stood as the main city of the Novempopulania.

The first mention of a bishop of Eauze is at the Council of Arles (314). The see may have been moved for mainly military reasons, around 850.[2]

Éauze Cathedral is dedicated to St. Luperculus.
