Bossley Park is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Bossley Park is located 36 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of the City of Fairfield. Bossley Park is part of the Greater Western Sydney region.
The 2011 census recorded Bossley Park as having a resident population of 14,028 of whom around half were born outside Australia and an area of 4.5 km2.[1]
History
Bossley Park was named after John Brown Bossley (1810–72), an English chemist who purchased a large block of land on Smithfield Road. He named his property Edensor after a village in Derbyshire, England. When the area north of Edensor was subdivided in 1890, it became known as Bossley Park. The public school was built in 1890 and a post office in 1895. After World War II, Bossley Park received many migrants from Italy, who have since played a large role in the local community.[2]
Demographics
According to the 2011 census of Population, there were 14,028 residents in Bossley Park.[1]
48.5% of people were born in Australia. The most common other countries of birth were Iraq (12.2%), Italy (4.5%), Vietnam (3.8%), Philippines (1.9%) and Chile (1.9%). 35.0% of people only spoke English at home. Other languages spoken at home included Neo-Aramaic (14.5%), Arabic (7.6%), Italian (7.2%), and Spanish (7.1%).[1]
The most common ancestries in were Italian (12.5%), Australians (9.9%), Assyrian (8.5%), English (7.9%) and Chinese (5.6%).
The most common responses for religion in Bossley Park were Catholic (52.7%), Buddhism (7.8%), Eastern Orthodox (6.2%), Anglican (5.8%) and Assyrian Apostolic (5.4%).[1]
Education
Bossley Park has a number of government schools including Bossley Park High School, Bossley Park Public School and Prairievale Public School. There is also the Catholic run Mary Immaculate Primary School.[3][4][5] .

Marconi Stadium, opened in 1956, is the home stadium of the Marconi Stallions and the Marconi Mustangs.
