Brandon Joseph Barash (born October 4, 1979) is an American actor. He currently portrays the role of Johnny Zacchara on the ABC Daytime soap opera General Hospital.
Career
Before pursuing acting, Barash had aspirations of being a cardiac surgeon. In high school, he underwent knee surgery for the chance to play college basketball. His girlfriend at that time got him in the school's musical audition without his knowledge. Barash attended the University of Southern California and got a BFA Degree in Acting. During his time at USC Brandon starred in several theatrical productions. Barash also attended the Harvey Lembeck Comedy Workshop and is currently training with Lesly Kahn. It was announced via Twitter Brandon is leaving General Hospital on March 5, 2013 confirmed by his management. Exact last air date is still unknown.
Barash is known for playing Jamie, Paris Gellar's first real boyfriend, on Gilmore Girls.
Barash also plays in the rock group "Port Chuck" along with his former General Hospital co-stars Steve Burton, Scott Reeves, and Bradford Anderson.[1]
Personal life
Barash was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and is the son of Jerry L. Barash, President & CEO of Sysco Food Services of Ventura and his first wife Susan Gale. He has one brother Jordan B. Barash and one sister Alison L. Barash. His stepmother is Karen M. Barash. Barash has lived in Missouri, Texas and California. He graduated from Memorial High School in Houston, Texas in 1998.
Barash was previously engaged to actress Natalie Hall in 2011.[2]
In 2013, it was confirmed that he was in a relationship with his former General Hospital co-star Kirsten Storms. In August 2013, the couple confirmed to People that they had secretly wed in June, and were expecting their first child, a girl, in January 2014.[3] On January 7, 2014, Barash confirmed on his official Twitter account that Storms had given birth to a baby girl, Harper Rose Barash.[4] On April 6, 2016, Soap Opera Digest revealed that Brandon and Kirsten have filed for divorce after more than 2 and half years of marriage citing irreconcilable differences but they will raise their daughter together as they are splitting amicably.[5]
