Brent Stephen Smith[1] (born January 10, 1978) is an American singer and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist of the band Shinedown.
Career
Prior to fronting the rock band Shinedown, Brent was the lead singer in a band called "Dreve", which Atlantic Records had signed and sent to L.A., California to record with well-known producer Desmond Child. Shortly after returning home to Knoxville, TN, Atlantic dropped the band but retained Smith. He was soon given a developmental contract by Atlantic Records; Brent left to find other musicians to form a new band which would become Shinedown.[2]
