Brian McCardie is a Scottish actor. He appears in Jon Baird's Filth, based on the Irvine Welsh novel of the same name, playing Dougie Gillman and Jacob Engstrand in Richard Eyre's production of Henrik Ibsen's Ghosts at the Almeida Theatre then transferring to The Trafalgar Studios in the West End, then New York. He just played James Connolly, a Leader of the 1916 Irish Rising, for RTÉ.
Early life
McCardie was born in Bellshill. He attended St. Athanasius Primary School in Carluke, then Our Lady's High School in Motherwell where he began acting in amateur drama before attending the National Youth Theatre then onto Rose Bruford College (1984–87).[1]
Career
After working in Theatre around the UK and various television Series and films. He may be best known for his portrayal of Alasdair Roy McGregor in the film Rob Roy (1995). Recent work of note includes Murphy's Law and Lilies (BBC Northern Ireland) and the BAFTA nominated and RTS winner Low Winter Sun (Channel 4, Tiger Aspect).
