Brownbagging or brown-bagging refers to various uses of a typical brown paper bag:
Agriculture
- A term for the farming practice of reusing seeds from year to year, which is illegal for patented varieties in certain countries
Alcohol
- Under United States open container laws, carrying a container of alcohol concealed in a paper bag
- Bringing your own alcoholic beverages to a restaurant lacking a liquor license (also known as BYOB for Bring Your Own Bottle)[1]
Culture
- Brown bag test, the practice of judging a person's skin color in relation to that of a brown paper bag.
Food
- Carrying a packed lunch to work or school, frequently in a brown paper bag
- A brown bag seminar, an informal meeting or presentation, to which you are welcome to bring your brownbag lunch
