Candle Cafe is a vegan restaurant located at 1307 Third Avenue (between East 74th and East 75th Streets) on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, in New York City.[1][2][3]
The restaurant has an eclectic all-vegan menu.[1] Its decor is simple, casual, and no-frills, with hardwood floors and with dark tiles at the juice bar.[4][5][6][7][8]
It was opened in 1994 as a juice bar and health food cafe, and is owned by Joy Pierson and Bart Potenza.[9][9][10] The Potenzas used $53,000 they won in the New York State Take Five lottery in 1993 to start the restaurant.[11]
Celebrities such as Woody Harrelson have been known to frequent the restaurant.[1]
A second location is on the Upper West Side.[12]
