The Carleton Knights football team represents Carleton College in the sport of American football.

History

Carleton hosted the only NCAA-sponsored metric football game in 1977. The game was dubbed the "Liter Bowl" and was measured in meters instead of yards. Carleton lost the game to St. Olaf College by a score of 43-0.^[1] The event was the last to fill Carleton's Laird Stadium.^[2]

St. Olaf handily won the contest, 43-0. It is the only NCAA-sanctioned football game to have been played on a metric field.
