Charlotte Higgins

Charlotte Higgins (born 1972) is a British writer and journalist.

Higgins was born in Stoke-on-Trent, the daughter of a doctor and a nurse, and received her secondary education at a local independent school.[1] A family holiday in Crete and an influential schoolteacher awakened her interest in classical languages and culture,[1] and she studied Classics at Balliol College, Oxford.

Higgins is a blogger and The Guardian's chief arts writer.[2] Formerly the paper's arts correspondent[3] and classical music editor, she has a particular interest in contemporary music.

She has published a book on Ovid called Latin Love Lessons, and a book on ancient Greece, It's All Greek To Me. Under Another Sky (2013), about journeys in Roman Britain, was shortlisted for the Samuel Johnson Prize,[4] and the Hessell-Tiltman Prize.[5]
