click.to is application software that integrates with the operating system clipboard to enhance copy and paste operations. It analyzes data stored on the clipboard and offers the user a choice of appropriate paste-destination programs or web pages from a context menu. click.to is a product of Axonic Informationssysteme GmbH, headquartered in Karlsruhe, Germany.

Operation

Underpinning click.to is the copy and paste principle; files, or the content of a document from an application in the cache, can be later reused from the clipboard in the same or another application. After installation, click.to runs automatically in the background. Once data is saved to the clipboard, the application identifies possible re-use options for the saved information and provides the user with these in a context menu, via the mouse cursor. click.to automatically and independently perform the usual steps between the application being used at that moment and the target one, including opening programs or web pages, performing searches, or entering login information.[1]

Actions

Each individual user can decide which features they want to use and which features to add to click.to. There are currently 23 actions included in the standard freeware package.

Default actions

Action Function
click.to Facebook With click.to Facebook, images or text can be pulled from documents, Web pages, e-mails, or PDFs and published on Facebook. Similarly, users can upload pictures from Explorer to the site.
click.to Google After the user selects and highlights the word to be searched, click.to takes care of opening the relevant default browser and the search engine, and typing Google. The user can then see the results of the query immediately in the results window.
click.to Wikipedia click.to can execute queries on the online encyclopedia Wikipedia with just one click. The user can highlight individual words from documents, text files, e-mails, websites, PDFs, and similar text formats and search via click.to on Wikipedia.
click.to YouTube From Explorer, videos can be uploaded to YouTube. click.to takes care of the necessary registration process and uploads the videos automatically.
click.to Twitter Using click.to, quotes, thoughts, and links to articles can be copied as Tweets to Twitter. click.to completes the login process and automatically opens the browser and the website.
click.to Flickr With click.to Flickr, photos and entire albums can be uploaded to Flickr from Explorer. After selecting the images and starting the copy process with CTRL + C, or right click -> Copy, the images are automatically uploaded to the target application by click.to.
click.to Evernote Pictures, documents, videos, PDFs and other files can be saved on Evernote in notebook collections. click.to transmits the location of the file to Evernote.[2]
click.to Amazon click.to Amazon allows the user to search for products and product catalogs through Amazon. By highlighting the desired product name in any document and selecting copy and click.to Amazon, a search for the product on the online retailer is immediately launched.
click.to Simplenote Notes and documents can be created with click.to Simplenote, simply by using the cut-and-copy process and selecting click.to Simplenote.
click.to Xing click.to Xing allows users to find people via their contact information, signatures and information on web pages, by highlighting the desired name and then pressing CTRL + C, or right click -> Copy. This allows users to search via the Xingsearch field.[3]
click.to Box With click.to Box, users can share photos, documents, folders and other files on the Cloud Computing Portal Box. The desired files are marked and copied with the command ‘CTRL + C’, or right click - copy>, and then pass through click.to directly to Box.
click.to Outlook By using click.to Outlook, you can e-mail attachments of any kind from Explorer. In addition, by selecting Microsoft Outlook e-mail from the click.to menu, marked text, links or addresses can be inserted and sent by Outlook.
click.to Word Text that has been copied to the clipboard can be sent and saved to a Word document with click.to Microsoft Word.
click.to Excel click.to Excel will convert the data in an existing text, e.g. a web page, Word document or other file, into an Excel spreadsheet.
click.to Paint Pressing the ‘Print’ button creates a copy of the Screenshot on the clipboard. click.to registers this use of the clipboard and then provides options for further uses of the screenshot, including Microsoft Paint. Microsoft Paint is automatically opened when selected.
click.to Explorer click.to Explorer extends the Microsoft function "Send" to any selected folder in Explorer. Files that have been selected and copied can be transferred directly with click.to the desired destination.
click.to Notepad Text that was copied to the clipboard can be copied and saved as a document with click.to Notepad in Microsoft Editor.
click.to Google Maps Addresses from signatures, contact forms, web pages and other text documents can be searched with click.to Google Maps directly in Google Maps.
click.to Google Translate Texts, emails, documents and Web pages that can be translated with Google Translate can be transferred directly through click.to Google Translate. The user will see the translated text in the browser, or in a preview window. If necessary, the language setting can be manually adjusted.
click.to Twick.it Individual technical terms and foreign words can be searched in the explanation machine Twick.it with a single click from every document, website, and e-mail. When activating the click.to "Quick View" setting, search results are displayed directly beneath the mouse cursor in a small preview window.[4]

Users and developers may customize functions and add search queries either through an embedded form or by the use of the click.to API.[5]

Competitors

click.to is similar functionality of "accelerators" that can be installed as a browser extension for Internet Explorer. These also provide a context menu with speed-dial functions but run only within the browser (whereas click.to is fully integrated into the computer's operating system).
