David Jiménez

David Jiménez (Barcelona, 1971) is a Spanish journalist. In May 2015 he became director of the newspaper El Mundo, in replacement of Casimiro García-Abadillo.[1]

Biography

Jiménez was born in Barcelona in 1971. He is a graduate in journalism by the University of Barcelona and began working in 1994 for the newspaper El Mundo, in its Madrid edition. In 1998 he started working as a correspondent in Asia and the Middle East, and has especially covered the conflicts of Afghanistan, Kashmir and of East Timor.[1][2]

In 2014 he obtained a Nieman scholarship from the University of Harvard that has allowed him to work in the Half Lab of the Technological Institute of Massachusetts (MIT) on the digital challenges of the press.[3]

In April 2015 he was appointed director of the newspaper El Mundo, in replacement of Casimiro García-Abadillo, that had occupied the charge since the cessation of Pedro J. Ramírez, on 30 January 2014.[2]
