David Judah Lawrence (born April 15, 1930) is a retired American alpine skier. He competed in the giant slalom at the 1952 Winter Olympics and finished 35th.[1]
Lawrence was born in France and received his education from private teachers. Every winter he went to ski to Davos, Switzerland. In 1948 he enrolled to Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, United States, and graduated in 1951. The same year he married a fellow American alpine skier Andrea Mead Lawrence; they both competed at the 1952 Olympics, where Andrea won two gold medals. After that David became a manager of the Pico Peak ski area in Vermont, which was owned by Andrea's mother. In 1954 the couple moved to Parshall, Colorado, where David coached alpine skiing until 1957. Meanwhile, between 1952 and 1956 Andrea gave birth two a girl and two boys,[2] with two girls born some time later.[3] From 1957 to 1960 David worked for his father's company in Switzerland, and in 1960–1964 was an architectural designer in Aspen, Colorado; in 1960 he also prepared the US women's team to the California Olympics.[1]
David and Andrea divorced in 1965 with all five children remaining with Andrea.[3] After that David re-married and settled in Mexico in 1968.[1]
