Don't Ask Me If I Love is the first novel of the Israeli film director, writer Amos Kollek. It was first published in 1971 in the city of New York
Plot
The book tells the story of a young Israeli man named Assaf Ryke, the son of a wealthy manufacturer and supplier of military equipment. Despite his father's intentions to involve him in politics, he desires to become a writer. Ryke narrates part of his service at the Israeli army. During this time he becomes friends with Ram, who unlike Assaf serves the army with restless patriotism. In one of his military leaves, he meets an American girl named Joy. He instanly becomes fond of her, though he is mostly just attracted to her physically.[1]
