The Dothan Area Botanical Gardens, located at 5130 Headland Ave., just off Highway 431, north of Dothan, Alabama, is a non-profit public gardens.
The DABG consists of 50 acres of cultivated gardens, paved nature trails and undeveloped, wooded landscapes. The Gardens seek to preserve the native plants of the area in an attractive balance with traditional botanical garden elements. The DABG is also committed to the conservation of natural resources for future generations by providing opportunities to the public for beauty, education and research.
The DABG is open 365 days a year from sunrise to sunset. Gates close automatically. Office hours are from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday. There is no charge to visit the Gardens but, as a non-profit, donations are always appreciated.
Most of the garden areas are accessible to visitors with disabilities and group tours on an electric tram are available by reservation only. Please call 334-793-3224 and allow at least three days notice for a group tour.
Picnic tables are available free of charge. Visitors are asked to take all trash with them as trash receptacles are not available.
For the safety and enjoyment of all visitors, and to protect the Gardens, please follow the guidelines below:
- No smoking or fires of any kind.
- Bicycles, roller blades, and skateboards are not permitted.
- Dogs are permitted but must be leashed at all times. Please take with you anything your dog leaves behind!
- No swimming, wading, or fishing is allowed and please do not throw objects in any of the water features.
