Edavanna is a town, panchayath and a village situated near Manjeri in Kerala, south India. The town is situated on Calicut–Nilambur–Gudalur (CNG Road) State Highway and near the banks of Chaliyar Puzha which is the fourth longest river in the Kerala state. Koyilandy-Edavanna State Highway ends here. The name Edavanna came because of the place position. Edavanna is in between Manjeri and Nilambur, Areacode and Nilambur, Areacode and Wandoor. The distance from Areacode, Manjeri, Nilambur and Wandoor to Edavanna is around 12 km. The Malayalam word "Edakku vannathu / Edakullathu" (meaning: situated in between) changed to Edavanna. Edavanna has a wonderful stadium known as Seethi Haji Stadium and the land is known for its tradition in furniture making.
Education
There is one government vocational higher secondary school, one govt higher secondary school, two government-aided higher secondary and two private open higher secondary schools in Edavanna. Jamia Nadwiyya situated at Chembakuth, 2 km from Edavanna town. Jamia Nadwiya Campus consists of one higher secondary school, arts and science college, teachers training college and Arabic college. Praise Will public school situated 2 km from Edavanna town is the only CBSE affiliated English Medium School in the panchayath. More than 10 private English medium schools are in the small panchayath.

Edavanna Yatheemkhana is one of the oldest Orphan Care institution in Kerala.Started serving from year 1961 under Edavanna Orphanage(yatheemkhana) committee.Edavanna Yatheemkhana is registered under society ACT 1860 (General).In Our orphanage campus,which is situated near Edavanna Busstand;we have 8 acres of land with 7 buildings including hostel fro both boys and girls,Masjid,Office….We are running 2 educational institution inside our campus namely orphanage LP School and Orphanage Polytechnic College. Orphanage Polytechnic College
Orphanage Polytechnic college is the first Engineering diploma institute in Ernad with 4 courses namely Mechanical Engineering, Civil engineering, Automobile Engineering, EEE; approved by AICTE, New Delhi and DTE Kerala. College is established in 2015-16 period. The college is owned by Edavanna Yatheenkhana (Orphanage), which was established in 1961. It is situated just 100 meters away from Edavanna Bus stand and near to the Edavanna Panchayath Office.

Seethi Haji Stadium
Like most of the places in Malabar, Edavanna is also a football-crazy land. Edavanna has a lovely full fledged stadium called Seethi Haji Stadium. It is named after famous politician Hon.Seethi Haji. The stadium is owned by a Club called Juvanile Sports Club. Many state and national level Football tournaments have happened here.
Culture
Edavanna village is a predominantly Muslim populated area. Hindus exist in comparatively smaller numbers. So the culture of the locality is based upon Muslim traditions. Duff Muttu, Kolkali and Aravanamuttu are common folk arts of this locality. There are many libraries attached to mosques giving a rich source of Islamic studies. Most of the books are written in Arabi-Malayalam which is a version of the Malayalam language written in Arabic script. People gather in mosques for the evening prayer and continue to sit there after the prayers discussing social and cultural issues. Business and family issues are also sorted out during these evening meetings. The Hindu minority of this area keeps their rich traditions by celebrating various festivals in their temples. Hindu rituals are done here with a regular devotion like other parts of Kerala.[1]
Transportation
Edavanna village connects to other parts of India through Nilambur town. State Highway No.28 starts from Nilambur and connects to Ooty, Mysore and Bangalore through Highways.12,29 and 181. National highway No.66 passes through Ramanattukara and the northern stretch connects to Goa and Mumbai. The southern stretch connects to Cochin and Trivandrum. State. The nearest airport is at Kozhikode. The nearest major railway station is at Feroke.
