Epik Subwoofers was a US-based home audio manufacturing company, specializing in high-end subwoofers. They catered to the direct online market for home audio and music enthusiasts.
On January 12, 2014 on their web page Epik Subwoofer announced that after 7 years in business they would be closing operations. Their explanation was that they had had increasing difficulty with vendors’ unreliable timelines and broken commitments for components and parts.
They were perhaps best known for their development of the Conquest subwoofer. "The uniformity of the Conquest's dynamic capability exceeds that of any commercial product Tom Nousaine has ever measured." [1]
Epik, company ran by owner Chad Kuypers, closed its doors in 2014. During the companies run they sold subwoofers Internet direct and received praise from users and professional reviewers for their price to performance ratio. Before officially closing their doors Epik launched the Legend and Empire, both dual opposed sealed sub woofers, 12" and 15" respectively.
Due to poor quality control and high volume of returns caused by amp failures, owner Chad decided to close his doors. The buyers who had purchased Epik sub woofers with faulty amplifiers, some not older than a month, were left to find a solution on their own after spending $1,000 on what they believed would be a high end piece of home theater equipment. Epik was a failure and put a stain on the trust Internet direct speaker companies have worked hard to build.
