Flag of Upper Volta

Proportions 2:3
The flag of Upper Volta was a horizontal tricolour of black, white and red derived from the three main rivers flowing through the country: the Black Volta, White Volta and Red Volta. This flag was adopted on December 9, 1959. The flag was identical to the flag of the German Empire (abolished in 1918).[1]
The flag was changed when Upper Volta became Burkina Faso on 4 August 1984.
