History
This hospital opened in 1982, offering only emergency and outpatient services. In 1989 inpatient services were added. A very small intensive care unit was added and an inpatient mental health unit was added. In 2000 a new wing was added to house a larger intensive care unit with ten beds. In 2001 the front of the hospital was rebuilt and a new emergency department was built, expanding its capacity to ten beds and a triage room.[2]
Services
The main hospital building has various outpatient services, such as a laboratory, radiology rooms, a surgical suite and a physical therapy center. The laboratory, physical therapy and radiology departments also serve inpatients. Inpatient services include a general medical unit, an intensive care unit and an inpatient mental health unit. The mental health unit has seventeen beds, but can be expanded to contain eighteen beds when the first seventeen are occupied. The hospital also has an emergency department.
Just north of the hospital is the Fitness Center, at 140 Health Way. The Fitness Center provides an environment where members may come to exercise with various exercise equipment.[3]

Very few patient satisfaction ratings are available for this hospital. However, Health Grades provides ratings for twelve patient safety indicators. These are based on objective criteria and are professional ratings. Three rating scores are possible: worse, average and better. Florida Hospital Lake Placid rated two worse, seven average and three better indicator scores.[4]
