Vita Group is Australia's largest independent retailer of mobile communications. The business has grown from a single Gold Coast store in 1995 to 150 outlets under the Fone Zone branding, a One Zero dealer network of more than 40 sites, 19 Next Byte stores and six Telstra Licensed Shops.
Currently the largest Telstra Premium Dealer, the group has a customer database of over 545,000 customers and subscribes more than 24,000 customers to the Telstra Mobile network each month. The group has recently established a dedicated outbound call centre focusing on customer retention, introduced a new concept store, launched a new concept store called The Lounge by Fone Zone, and also formalised their customer care program known as CARE. Fone Zone listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2005 and recently announced the purchase of Next Byte, a chain of Apple resellers, in an effort to broaden their income stream and enhance growth.
In April 2008, Fone Zone changed its name and ASX code to Vita Group Limited.[1] This is due to the acquisition of a number of other companies or brands including Fone Zone, Next Byte and One Zero – along with selected Telstra Shop locations. Vita is Latin for ‘way of life’ and was chosen as it reflects the way in which electronics and telecommunications equipment – such as mobile phones, MP3 players, computers and the internet – have become an essential part of people's everyday lives.
