Fremont Christian School (FCS), is a private school located in Fremont, California, USA. No other school in the tri-city area offers private education from preschool through 12th grade. FCS has dual accreditations at the highest level from Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

The 16-acre campus is located at 4760 Thornton Ave, just behind Harbor Light Church. The property is divided into three campuses for Preschool, Elementary and Secondary (junior high and high school). The facilities include computer & science labs, an expanded library, music hall, athletic training room, activities building with kitchen, meeting hall, newly installed turf fields for a 90 foot baseball diamond with shaded spectator bleacher seating, full size soccer field, separate softball field, smaller soccer field and a gym for basketball, volleyball and spectator seating.

Overall student-to-teacher ratio is 12:1 with a current population of approximately 750 students across all campuses. The student body throughout each of the campuses are very diverse, which is a direct reflection of the community surrounding Fremont Christian School. FCS accepts international students at every grade level and provides host families for secondary students.

History

Fremont Christian School was established in 1968 by the church, First Assembly of God (now known as Harbor Light). Its founding principal, Reverend C.K. Rankin, and the church's senior pastor, Leroy Cloud, started this school with the idea in mind to have a school serving their community by providing a K-12 Christian education. It was also meant to provide an evangelical opportunity "to the community for any family open to spiritual growth, character formation and academic attainment." [2]

Through its development, FCS now provides education options from the preschool level all the way through high school, and is inclusive of international students. It's ensured that every employee, at every level, is a Christian who practices their faith and regularly attends church. A statement from the school on expectations for students attending Fremont Christian School: "It is our goal that every child who attends FCS would learn what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ." Head of School

The current head of the school is Tricia Meyer. She is a Fremont Christian School graduate herself, and has a Bachelor of Arts in English, a California Single Subject Teaching Credential, a Master of Education, a California Administrative Services Credential, and a Doctor of Education (earned at George Fox University).[3]

Meyer started teaching at FCS in 1993, later becoming an academic and college counselor. She became vice principal In 1998, and junior high and high school principal in 2000.[3]

FCS Athletics - Warrior

The school colors are cardinal red and silver and the mascot is the warrior. Fremont Christian High School participates in the North Coast Section (NCS) of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), which is the state governing body of high school athletics. FCS holds 71 League Championship titles and 8 North Coast Sectional Championships in various sports.

In the 2015 Fall season, Fremont Christian School's tennis team participated in the Bay Counties League - East (BCL-E), earning the title of BCL-E Champions and moved onto the North Coast Section (NCS) tournament. FCS doubles team placed 4th in the 2015 NCS playoffs.[6]

Fremont Christian Junior High competes in the Bay Area Christian Athletic League (BACAL). The BACAL offers flag football, softball, basketball, soccer, and volleyball. FCS teams compete in the west division and have an opportunity to compete for a league championship after each 8-10 week season. Junior High Sports Include:

FCS Elementary students competes in our local public school league for both boys and girls. This team is open to 4th and 5th grade students. Students in 6th grade have a choice of playing at this elementary age level or with our FCS Junior High level team. Elementary sports (grades 4th-6th) include:

FCS has a thriving and award winning music department. This department includes choral groups directed by Darryl Guzman, instrumental music groups directed by Thomas Banuelos and hand bell groups directed by Christy Hitson.

There are 3 choral groups: Concert Choir, Living Water Ensemble and JH Girls Choral. These groups have several concerts a year. The high school groups (Concert Choir and Living Water Ensemble) participate in choral competitions every year. They alternate between a competition in Pasedina, CA and a competition in New York City. In the past they have received many awards. They have also performed multiple times at Carnegie Hall.

There are 3 instrumental groups: Junior High Band, Warrior Band, and Dixie Dominus.[8] The Junior High Band is what gets most students started off in the instrumental music field. In this group they are taught how to master an instrument and how to read music. They perform several times a year. Warrior Band consists of many musically talented high school students. They are constantly performing and participating in band competitions.

There are 2 hand bell groups: a Beginner Hand Bell group and Living Witness Hand Bells. These groups often perform with the bands and in other concerts. Living Witness Hand Bells also participates in the band tour to Southern California.

Theatre [9]

The Theatre department is headed by Darryl Guzman. They alternate every other year between a musical production and a stage play. The musical performances are quite grand and usually have the participation of 200+ students. The students begin rehearsal several months ahead of time and have 4 performances. A professional orchestra is hired, an intricate and amazing set is built and costumes are rented. These productions are put on the opposite years from the Concert Choir going to New York.

The play productions are a bit smaller in scale. The cast usually consists of about 20 students. They rehearse for a couple of months and perform 4 times. A small set is built and a variety of costumes are rented. These productions may be smaller but they do not lack quality.
