GD X Taeyang (previously known as GDYB) is a South Korean duo formed by G-Dragon and Taeyang from Big Bang in 2014.[1]
History
G-Dragon and Taeyang met as 13-year old trainees at YG Entertainment, the duo was originally planned to debut as the hip-hop duo under name GDYB, the duo released several singles under the name "GDYB".[2] later YG Entertainment decided to release a boy group instead of duo, both were chosen as a members of group Big Bang after competing in a survival show held by the company.[3] In 2008, Taeyang released his first solo EP Hot, G-Dragon participated as a writer and producer in the album, and featured on single "I Need a Girl". In 2009, G-Dragon released his first album Heartbreaker, Taeyang featured in song "Korean Dream". In 2010, G-Dragon wrote and produced a songs from Taeyang first and second albums Solar and Rise
On November 21, 2014, G-Dragon and Taeyang released a collaboration under the name GD × Taeyang on the song "Good Boy". The song reached number one on Billboard's "World Digital Songs" chart, marking the third time a Korean act had topped the chart after PSY and 2NE1.[4] The single had 1.2 million downloads in South Korea. The music video reached 100 million views on YouTube on April 13, 2016.
