Gamharia (गम्हरिया) is a village in Gaya district of Bihar, India. It is about 45 km (28 mi) from Gaya situated on Sher Shah Suri Marg (GT Road) between Kolkata and Delhi. It is surrounded by the Kamaun range. The current MLA of the area is Surendra Parsad Sinha. The main market is Sherghati, Chandiastan, and Darioura . Gola Bazar is among the largest cattle market in Bihar. A famous personality was the late Baijnath Prasad Singh Land Lord of Jamhore who founded Chandiasthan in 1956 and gave free land to people at chandiasthan. He was a Congress Party leader and supported Capt. Shah Jaha in the election. Dr. Rajendra prasad is a famous doctor in this region. Also, the late Shakil Ahmad of Sihuli former MLA of Gurua is famous.

The Grand Trunk Road (NH-2, which has undergone a revival under The Golden Quadrilateral project) crosses from Gamharia. Nearest Railway Station Gaya is well connected to Patna, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Rourkela, Hazaribag, Kolkata, Varanasi, Allahabad, Kanpur, Delhi, Amritsar, and to the Pakistani cities of Lahore and Peshawar.Nearest AirportGaya Airport is the only international airport in Bihar and Jharkhand taken together. It is connected to Colombo, Sri Lanka through two airline operators; Bangkok, Thailand; Singapore, and Paro, Bhutan. It is to be being developed as an alternative to the Calcutta airport. Gaya Airport is served by Indian Airlines for domestic flights and Sri Lankan Airlines, Drukair and Indian Airlines for international flights. Thai Airways flies non-stop between Bangkok and Gaya. It is 5 kilometres from Gaya airport to "Bodh-Gaya".
Cuisine
The staple food of the area is also common to the rest of Bihar and Jharkhand. The other special preparations found in the area are typically traditional Bihari. The most popular of them include sattu, litti, pittha, pua, marua-ka-roti, bari-dal, sattu-ka-roti, baigan-bharta and sukhaota.
The local Muslims are fond of handa (meat cooked in mud vessels by burying them partially into the ground and not using any matel to cook), palau, kawab, etc.
Sweets
A sweet of the area is Sherghati ka Anersa which is very famouus in Bihar and Jharkhand and doman Sao ka Kalajamun and Khaja also.
Education
The condition of the education machinery in Chandisthan has become slightly better (at least at the school level) since the DAV Public School opened its branch in the town (around 1992). In spite of the dreary education system in Sherghati, there have been people who went places in search of higher studies. Aditya Prasad (of the Sherghati Darbar House) was among the first in the town to get a degree in engineering, in London in 1924. Subodh Kumar Gupta I.A.S. Jharkhand Cadre and noted storyteller Prabhat Manjudarshi also hails from the Darbar House family. Prof Deepak Kumar Singh is doing great effort as he is supporting people in the field of education.
