John Peyton Garnett Nelson was the 12th head college football coach for the University of Richmond Spiders located in Richmond, Virginia and he held that position for the 1901 season. His career coaching record at Richmond was 1 wins, 6 losses, and 0 ties. This ranks him 26th at Richmond in total wins and 29th at Richmond in winning percentage.[1] He died of bladder cancer in 1930.[2]
