Grandhi Venkata Reddy Naidu

Grandhi Venkata Reddy Naidu is a Famous Lawer in Godavari District. He was a follower of Sir KV Reddy Naidu. He was born in 18th June 1885 at Narasapuram, West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh, India. His father Narasimha Rao was a Land Lord at Narasapuram. His Grand Father Venkar Reddy Naidu was a Munciff in 1840. He was a famous lawyer by training and education, Naidu spent his early youth in the Indian Freedom Movement. Later he was joined in Justice Party. He was enrolled as an Advocate in 1918 at Madras High Court. While practicing law for more than three decades, Later he was shifted his practice at Narasapuram. Naidu held various leadership positions in the West Godavari district administration. He was elected as a President of Narasapuram Taluka Board in 1922. Five times he was unanimously elected for the Post. In 1936 he was elected as President of Godavari District Board capital at Narasapuram. After formation of West Godavari he was re-elected as a President of West Godavari District Board. 10 years he was worked as a District Board President. He was subsequently elected to the Legislative Council before India's Independence. After India's independence in 1947, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly and after the formation of the state of Andhra Pradesh in 1951. He was elected as a MLC in 1932, and MLA in 1947. Before that he was worked as a Justice Party President in Godavari District as well as West Godavari District. He was a Senate and Syndicate Member in Madras and Andhra Universities. In 1955 he was elected as a Congress MLA at Narasapuram Assembly. He was appointed the first Ministry of Law and Justice (India) Minister of Law in Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy Cabinet in 1-11-1956. He Worked as a Endowments Minister, Law Minister and Prisons Minister. He was draft Committee member in various state Govt. Acts. He Was a Draft committee Chairman of Doubry prohibition Act. The Act Was Introduced in Assembly September 1956. He was established subordinate Courts in Visalandhra. He was established Elementary schools and middle schools in West Godavari District. He died at the age of 82 years, i.e. 06-01-1967.

Personal life

Grandhi Venkata Reddy Naidu received his graduate B.A., and law L.L.B., degrees from University of Madras. He married Grandhi Venkata Lakshmi, she was daughter of Dr. Chapa Mangaiah Naidu who is a Panel Doctor of Raja of Vijaya Nagaram. The couple had four sons and a daughter. Sons are Kesava Ramam Murthy, Venkata Narasinha Rao (Advocares), Venkateswara Rao ( Agrl), Surya Prakasa Rao ( govt. Service). His elder son Grandhi Kesava Murthy was an eminent lawyer in West Godavari District. His grandson is Justice Grandhi Bhavani Prasad.
