Guachochi is one of the 67 municipalities of Chihuahua, in northern Mexico. The municipal seat lies at Guachochi. The municipality covers an area of 4,340.35 km².
It was created by the State Congress on 31 December 1962, with its escision from the municipality of Batopilas.
As of 2010, the municipality had a total population of 49,689,[1] up from 45,881 as of 2005.[2]
As of 2010, the city of Guachochi had a population of 14,513.[1] Other than the city of Guachochi, the municipality had 1,508 localities, the largest of which (with 2010 populations in parentheses) was: Samachique (1,241), classified as rural.[1]
