Hekmat Khalil Karzai is the Deputy Foreign Minister of Afghanistan. He was appointed as the Deputy Foreign Minister by H.E. President Mohammed Ashraf Ghani on January 21st, 2015. He is the founding director of Afghanistan's Centre for Conflict and Peace Studies.^[1][2] He is a former RMS Fellow at the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research in Singapore. Mr. Karzai is the son of Shaheed Khalil Khan and brother of Shaheed Hashmat Khan. He was born in Kandahar and in addition to English has fluency in Pashto and Dari. He is also fluent in Urdu (Hindi).^[3]
