Helen F. Gleeson OBE is a British physicist. As of 2015 she holds the chair of Cavendish Professor at the University of Leeds, having left the University of Manchester at the start of 2015.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Education

Gleeson graduated from the University of Manchester in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics.[7] She went to study for a PhD which she was awarded in 1986 for investigations of the optical and electro-optical properties of chiral mesophases.[8]

Research

Gleeson's research investigates self-assembling and self-ordering materials, especially chiral liquid crystals.[9][10][11] and teaches at the University of Manchester.[12][13][14]

Awards and honours

Gleeson was awarded Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2009 Birthday Honours.
