Fictional character biography
Hoggoth is part of the Vishanti, along with Agamotto and Oshtur. Hoggoth may be the oldest of the three.
Hoggoth usually appears as an old, bald man with blue or purple skin, pointed ears and whose eyes have no pupils and burn with energy. At other times he either appears as a large ant or takes Agamotto's guise of a tiger or lion (Whether this was simply a mistake by the creative team of the comic book or means that the Vishanti take on each other's appearances when it suits them is unknown).
Hoggoth appears to Doctor Strange after he beseeched the Vishanti to prevent Sligguth's master Shuma-Gorath from conquering the world. Hoggoth noted that the Vishanti would take fleshly forms that Strange could comprehend without going mad, and then confirmed that they were unwilling to directly aid Strange so as not to upset the cosmic balance and open the door to chaos.[1]
