Holland-Mark

Holland-Mark is an American advertising and marketing communications agency based in Boston, Massachusetts. The agency is focused on providing marketing and brand strategy [1] supported by effective communications across the offline and online spectrum.

History

Holland Mark was founded in 1986 by William Holland Davis and Christopher Mark Colbert. Holland-Mark was once the largest independent agency in New England, serving clients including Citizens Bank, Fidelity Investments, The Boston Globe, Red Lobster, Radisson Hotels, T.J. Maxx, Yankee Candle and more. The agency was shut down in 2001 due to economic conditions.[2] In 2007, founding partner Chris Colbert decided to restart the agency [3] as an alternative to the larger, holding company-owned agencies in Boston.[4]

In March 2007, Chris met with Rob Waldeck, the CEO of TPG Creative.[5] TPG Creative was a 12-year-old design firm in Boston. Five months later a formal agreement was made to merge Holland-Mark and TPG Creative, and to recast the design capability as HM Studios. Mike Troiano joined the partnership in August 2009 as the executive to lead the development of the agency’s digital marketing capabilities.
