Holmes County State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Mississippi located off U.S. Route 51 approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Durant.

Historical significance

The construction of this and other state parks in Mississippi are an "excellent example of cooperative efforts between the state and federal government to help reduce the unemployment rates during the Great Depression."[3]

This park is also historically significant because of its 1930s rustic style architecture, with buildings designed to integrate with the natural landscape.[3]

Park amenities

The camp area is built around two lakes, and features RV and tent camping, cabins, a dormitory for group campers, food service, picnic area and shelters, a beach, nature trail, playground, boat launch, laundry, and worship service.[4]
