The Hubli Sandbox in Hubballi, India is an ecosystem launched by Deshpande Foundation that supports mission-driven individuals to come up with sustainable and scalable enterprises having social and economic impact.[1] It's a co-creation of Dr. Gururaj "Desh" Deshpande, Indian American venture capitalist and entrepreneur[2] and his wife Jaishree Deshpande.[3]

It enables individuals and organizations driven by entrepreneurial energy to create and grow enterprises that address social challenges or market opportunities.[4]

Hubli Sandbox engages with not-for-profits, non-governmental organizations, academics, and entrepreneurs to launch effective and scalable models of development.[5] The ecosystem nurtures innovation and entrepreneurship to empower Northwest Karnataka in the districts of Hubballi- Dharwad, Belgaum, Gadag, Uttara Kannada, and Haveri.[6]

Inspired by the Hubli Sandbox, the Ek Soch Sandbox and Kakatiya Sandbox were set up.[7]

Hubli Sandbox runs many programs in the areas of education, student leadership, agriculture,[8] micro-entrepreneurship, and maternal health. Major programs are Sandbox Startups, Navodyami, Grantmaking & partnerships, Deshpande Educational Trust (DET), LEADers' Accelerating Development (LEAD), Agriculture, Healthcare, and Global Exchange Program.[9] The Development Dialogue is the annual international conference of social entrepreneurship conducted by Hubli Sandbox.[10][11]
