Imtiaz supermarket is a local market chain considered to be supermarket giant in Pakistan with 70,000 people[1] visiting the store daily.

History

In 1985 Imtiaz Hussain opened a small grocery store. The store gained unprecedented popularity when Imtiaz started selling products with certain discounts making them affordable for middle class of pakistan.He later changed the name of store from imtiaz store to Imtiaz supermarket. This strategy helped him to make Imtiaz Supermarket, city’s largest retail chain, now employing 3,200 people. ISM now earns close to Rs400,000 per square foot[2]

In 2016 alone, the company is planning to open three more stores in Karachi – most likely in North Nazimabad and Clifton – and one each in Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Sialkot, Hyderabad and Lahore.The supermarket giant is likely to open its first international store by 2017 in Sharjah.[3]
