IIIT Kottayam or IIIT-K is one of the IIITs which is proposed to be built in the village of Valavoor near Pala in the district of Kottayam. It is the second IIIT in Kerala after the one in Thiruvananthapuram or more known as IIITM-K.
Proposed Location
The proposed location IIIT-K is only 65 km from Cochin and 32 km from Kottayam. It is almost in the middle of two IT Cities in Kerala, i.e. Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam. These cities are connected by State Highway which passes through Kottayam as well as the main trunk route of railways. Kottayam is also known for its literacy.
Private Partnerships
The Private partnership is sought from a team of three companies. EMKE group or more known as LuLu International from Dubai group is one partner. The other partners are Rolta, an Indian headquartered in Mumbai and Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL).
