Isra University is located in Hyderabad, Sindh, Pakistan. It houses several faculties some of which are Medicine and Allied Medical Sciences, Dentistry and Allied Sciences, Engineering Science and Technology, Commerce, Economics and Management Sciences, as well as a School of Nursing. In Pakistan, Isra University ranks 6th in the HEC rankings of Medical Universities.[1]

Isra University is located next to National Highway, 5 km from Hyderabad City Center. It is accessible from the surrounding areas of Gudu and Jamshoro via Hyderabad bypass, and Latifabad, Mirpurkhas and Badin via the channel bypass. The National Highway connects it to the north of the Sindh province. The campus is spread over 10 acres (40,000 m2) of land.[2]

Introduction

Isra University is an autonomous and privately owned institution legislated by the Isra University Act, 1997 [Sindh Act No. V of 1997] notified in the Sindh Government Gazette (Extra-Ordinary) on September 27, 1997. The university is owned by the Isra Islamic Foundation, a non-profit organization certified by the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy. In its short, eighteen-year history, the University has grown from 30 students, in the Fall Semester of 1997, to more than 3,500 students in the Spring of 2016.

Isra University's program, offered by the Faculty of Engineering Science & Technology, Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) has been accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council Islamabad since October 2010.

Al-Tibri Medical College and Hospital is located in Karachi and is affiliated with Isra University.[3]

Academic environment

The academic environment and examination patterns of each department vary greatly. The semester system is utilized for the departments of commerce, economics, management science, engineering science and technology, and dentistry. The departments of medicine and physiotherapy follow an annual system. Each department has its own exam schedule and grading system, also every department follows its own yearly academic calendar.

Besides academia, the university engages its students in various extra-curricular activities by offering sports, debates, essay writing and computer gaming competitions. Along with these competitions the university arranges a yearly picnic.[5]
