John "Jack" Losch (August 13, 1934 – May 27, 2004) was a member of the first Little League World Series (LLWS) championship team.[1]
He was the center fielder for Williamsport, Pennsylvania's Maynard Midgets when they clinched the first LLWS title against Lock Haven, Pennsylvania on August 23, 1947.[2]
Losch went on to be an All-American in football at the University of Miami. He still holds multiple rushing records there.[2]
NFL career
Losch was the 8th overall pick in the 1956 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers,[3] but played for only a year before joining the United States Air Force as a jet pilot.[2]
For 37 years, following his NFL career, he was Director of Fleet Services at General Motors.[2]
Losch died on May 27, 2004.[1] On June 10, 2004, Little League Baseball and Softball announced that the Little League World Series Team Sportsmanship Award would be named after Losch.[4]
